Meet the team!

Green Light HR Solutions was founded by Antonia Nicholls and Julie Shimmin who met in 2001 whilst studying for their HR qualifications. They stayed in touch and formed Green Light HR Solutions in 2014.

Julie left the business in 2023 but continues to operate as an Associate.

Since 2014 Antonia and Julie have provided the full range of HR expertise to smaller businesses drawing on their extensive experience as HR Professionals and people managers.

Antonia Nicholls, MCIPD

Antonia is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, a qualified Business and Executive Coach and has worked in a range of Human Resources roles for the past 20 years.

With the benefit of having managed a large team in her role as Deputy Head of Human Resources at Bradford University, Antonia understands the challenges of life as a manager, and offers practical HR advice and guidance to both suit your needs and minimize any risk to the business.

Antonia is well versed in advising on employment law, discipline, grievance, performance problems, sickness absence management, restructures, redundancy, UKBA immigration requirements and many other areas - you name it, she's experienced it! Antonia has handled restructures and culture change, devised appraisal processes, pay and grading structures including job evaluation, leadership development programmes and she is an experienced recruiter. Antonia is experienced in delivering the full range of HR training to managers and one-to-one and group coaching.

Julie Shimmin, CIPD

Qualified in 2002, Julie is an experenced human resources professional.  With significant experience providing support both in house and as a Consultant in the Private and Public Sector. Her past experience includes senior HR roles at Leeds United and International Personal Finance (IPF). Julie also held a senior role within the NHS Leadership Academy as national lead on graduate recruitment.  This was after she commenced her career in HR at Pinsent Masons – a serious broad range of experience! 

Julie has successfully led a range of complex project work including large recruitment assessment centres, factory closures, the re-design and re-organisation of teams to meet changing business needs and introduction of competency based frameworks.  

More recently Julie has supported a not for profit high profile organisation during a period of significant growth to secure the HR framework for the future.  This has included, harmonizing contracts of employment, putting in place all HR systems, carrying out a job evaluation and ongoing performance review process. 

Julie is experienced in the range of HR advice with an extensive knowledge and understanding of employment law.  

With her broad experience she understands the needs of small to large businesses in all sectors.  

Julie is currently working in an employed role but remains a part of Green Light HR and always will be!
